2016 Honda Accord Sedan and Coupe Named IIHS 2015 TOP SAFETY PICK+

The 2016 Honda Accord Sedan and Coupe have received a 2015 TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) when equipped with optional front crash prevention from the Honda Sensing™ suite of driver assistive technologies.
“With Honda Sensing now available on all Accord trims, the best-selling retail car to American families also leads the midsize segment in safety,” said Jeff Conrad, Honda Division senior vice president and general manager. “Our continued application of Honda Sensing technologies to more vehicles in our lineup is advancing our goal of reducing collisions and fatalities for everyone on the road.”
For 2016, all Accords can be equipped with Honda Sensing, a system that uses sensor fusion technology using, “a windshield-mounted monocular camera and front grille-mounted millimeter wave radar system to provide enhanced sensing with the ability to identify and anticipate multiple collision scenarios, including ones involving a pedestrian.”
Honda Sensing™ technologies on the Accord include:
- Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)1 with sensor fusion technology
- Lane Departure Warning (LDW)2
- Forward Collision Warning (FCW)3
- Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS)4
- Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)5
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)6
Honda Sensing is available as a standalone option on LX, LX-S, Sport, EX and EX-L trims and offered as standard equipment on the Touring trims.
