Chevrolet Introduces 2017 Trax at Chicago Auto Show
There’s a whole lot new to look at now that the 2017 Chevrolet Trax has been unveiled.
On the front end, prospective buyers will find an all-new front-end, a newly designed and upgraded interior, new standard and available safety features and a new infotainment system.
On the exterior buyers will see a new grille and headlamps that are in line with the rest of GM’s lineup. Trax LS models feature new halogen reflector headlamps and uplevel LT and new Premier models have halogen projector headlamps with LED signature lighting. Chrome also accents the outboard fog lamp bezels.
The posterior of the crossover gets a new fascia and dual taillamp. The Premier model features LED signature lighting and new 18-inch aluminum wheels.
GM touts an upgraded instrument cluster in the ’17 model that includes a new gauge display with prominent analog speedometer, tachometer readouts and digital displays. Premier models are offered with contrasting-color instrument panel trim that matches their leatherette seating trim.
A new 7-inch diagonal MyLink color touch screen centers the 2017 Trax’s infotainment system and like every new GM vehicle, the 2017 Trax is available with 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot.
New active safety and crash-avoidance features are included in the Trax depending on trim level including:
- Side Blind Zone Alert
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Forward Collision Alert
- Lane Departure Warning
- Rearview camera (standard)
- 10 Standard air bags (standard)
Under the hood, buyers will find the same Trax options previously offered, the Trax’s Ecotec 1.4L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which is backed by a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine is rated at 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque.
The 2017 Trax goes on sale this fall, offered in LS, LT and new Premier trims.
