Twenty-five years ago, Volvo debuted a a front-wheel drive vehicle with a 5-cylinder transverse engine. It was the first Volvo available with AWD. Dubbed “Project Galaxy,” the car would signal a new series of Volvo automobiles that accentuated the pleasure of driving. The Volvo 850 ceased production in 1996.
